Social Justice

In the Bible, Micah 6:8 gives us insight and direction for Social Justice, “He has shown you, O man, what is good and what does the LORD require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” Throughout history the Black church has been a sentinel on the battlefield for systemic racism, equality and equity, as well as a lighthouse for social and economic change.  Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church is no exception. Since 1938, Mount Olive has been dedicated in addressing the wrong within its local, state and even federal government without compromising the message of the gospel. It has been Mt. Olive’s mission to be like Jesus, a radical and liberator to address issues affecting our community such as: poverty, incarceration, voting rights, black on black crime, police brutality, economics, education and healthcare just to name a few.

“The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor (Luke 4:18-19).”

Walk by faith, and not by sight, "Christ will continue to bless His people"
