Mother Ruby Jean Baulkmon Arnold

She was born in Tallahassee, Florida to proud parents of Deacon Clinton M. Baulkmon and Mother Roberta C. Baulkmon. She is the fourth oldest of five children, all girls. She grew up in a religious home with her parents and four sisters. She accepted Christ as her Savior at the tender age of eleven. She grew up as a child at the Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Isaac.
She attended elementary, middle, and high school in Tallahassee, Florida in the Leon County Public School System. She graduated from Lincoln Senior High School in June, 1969. She continued her education and graduated from Florida A&M University in the same city with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics.

In September, 1968, she moved to Miami. Years later, after her children graduated from college, she went back to school and received a Master’s Degree from Nova Southeastern University in Broward County. Additional studies were completed at the University of Miami and Barry College. She also joined The Second Baptist Church in Richmond Heights, under the leadership of Reverend John Ferguson.
Mother Arnold was married to her high school sweetheart, Elder Frazier Arnold, Jr. on June 26, 1971 at Gethsemane Missionary Baptist Church in Tallahassee, Florida. They have been married for forty-four and a half years. To this union a boy was born, Meshaun Labrone Arnold and a girl Marquita Yvonne Arnold.

Before retirement, Mother Arnold was an employee at The Miami Dade County Community Action Agency/Head Start Program for thirty-five years. Her positions were as a teacher, Curriculum Specialist, Family Day Care Coordinator, and Head Start Center Director. During those years, Mother Arnold was a dedicated employee and she received many awards and accommodations. But most importantly she made a great impact on the lives of hundreds of low income children and their parents.

On June 12, 1979, Ruby and her husband joined The Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church family, under the leadership of Elder O.L. Nickerson. Mother Arnold has been of the Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church for forty-five years, where she has worked faithfully with her husband. She is a Deaconess, Church School Teacher, and the President of The Hospitality Ministry. She has also served with the Youth Ministry and the New Membership Committee. Her hobbies are gardening, decorating the home, and listening to gospel music. Her motto is;

 “I will work for the Lord while I can, and for as long as I can.”
